Things to Do: Hunting

Exotics such as axis deer, the small but colorful blackbuck antelope and the palm-antlered fallow deer freely roam the canyons and valleys of the County. Russian boar, feral hogs and hosts of wild turkey are full time residents of the creek and river bottoms. Whether hunting with rifle, bow or camera you'll be glad you came to Bandera County, Texas.

Information on seasonal daily leases is available by calling the Bandera Visitors Center at 830-796-3045 or 800-364-3833.

The following facilities offer year round hunting:

Flying A Ranch
Flying A Ranch
866-796-4750 or 830-796-4750
Bandera, TX

9000-acre ranch, located just south of Bandera, Texas, offers a variety of Hill Country whitetail deer and exotics, including axis, fallow, sika and red deer. Does not guarantee a successful hunt but most hunters get multiple opportunities during their stay. Lodging is available at The Lodge on San Julian Creek, which is located on the ranch.

Guides are ranch employees and are part of the everyday operations necessary to manage and maintain the ranch. Most hunts are conducted from 4’ X 8’ box blinds. Several of the blinds are elevated, some are placed on hillsides for better visibility, and the remainders are on flat ground with ADA accessibility. The boxes will comfortably hold the guide and up to two hunters.

Flying A offers a limited number of bow hunts each year for experienced bowhunters. These hunts are typically conducted from a pop-up blind housing the hunter and guide.

The Flying A has been operating since the early 1960’s.
