Bandera County does offer several traditional "kid camps" where the child is in a camp setting without a parent or guardian. Information on several of these is listed below.
Bandera County is also a wonderful place for a "family camp" experience. Parents and children are able to enjoy the same activities and interact throughout the day at our many area dude ranches.
Two sessions of camp offered, beginning Jun 17 and Jun 24 for girls between 6 and 16. Girls are assigned a horse to care for and to ride for the duration of the camp. Most aspects of riding will be covered. Camp ends with participants having the opportunity to "barrel race" at a local rodeo.
Deer Creek camp offers camping adventures for children between the ages of 7-16 each summer. Activities include team building, sports, and specialty classes such as drama, dance, and phtography. The camp is located along the banks of the Medina River just outside of Medina.
Echo Hill has been offering a non-competitive, child centered camp for boys and girls ages 6-16 since 1952. Activities include horseback riding, swimming, archery, riflery, hill climbing, nature study, and more.
Rancho Cortez offers several different Horse Camps for kids throughout the summer. Special sessions for boys and girls and also sessions which include mother/daughter or father/son.
Mother and daughter week long sessions during the summer months. Camp focuses on teaching how to care for your horse as well as to ride. The remainder of the year, Sugar & Spice offers family weekends and women only group packages.
