The Three Sisters or the Twisted Sisters and More

Always one of the top-rated drives in North America commonly referred to as the Three Sisters or Twisted Sisters, Highways 335, 336, and 337 has its beginnings in the town of Medina. Using the route outlined below you will experience more twists and turns, beautiful vistas, and four river valleys, the Medina, Sabinal, Frio and Nueces. The route suggested below has “supersized” the drive so that you are not doubling back on any roads. As outlined below it is best to allocate a full day so that you will have time to stop and enjoy the sights along the way. Refer to a map to alter the route based on your available time.

  1. Head North from Bandera on Hwy 16 to Medina.
  2. In Medina go West on Hwy 337 towards Vanderpool to Hwy 187. (You may want to visit Lost Maples State Natural Area, Lost Maples Winery or the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum that are located nearby.)

  4. Continue on Hwy 337 to Camp Wood.
