Kick off the New Year with one of Bandera’s most cherished traditions, the Bandera Cowgirl Roundup. Held every New Year’s Day, this annual gathering celebrates the strength, heritage, and community spirit of Bandera’s women riders.
Cowgirls from all over come together at high noon for a professional panoramic photo, dressed in their best boots, hats, and western attire — horses are encouraged. Following the photo, participants can enjoy light horse obstacles, shared food and beverages, and time spent reconnecting with friends and fellow riders. Chili will be served, and attendees are welcome to bring something to share.
More than just a photo opportunity, the Cowgirl Roundup is a living tribute to Bandera’s deep cowboy roots and a celebration of women’s role in western culture. The panoramic photos are proudly displayed at the Frontier Times Museum, helping preserve this tradition for future generations.
